Sucrose
Sucrose is the main ingredient of ordinary (refined) sugar, cane sugar, rock candy, icing sugar etc. - that is, all kinds of white and brown sugar. It is a disaccharide, which means it is comprised of two sugars in equal parts: glucose and fructose. Therefore 100g sucrose contain 50 g fructose.
Some people say that fructose as part of sucrose is less problematic than pure fructose. We have no found any evidence to support this theory. Additionally, countless customers report to us that they have to avoid sucrose as well as fructose to live symptom-free.
At Frusano, we always measure Total Fructose, which includes half of the sucrose (since it's half fructose and half glucose, for more details see here).
For this reason, we not only pay attention to low levels of fructose, but also pay particular attention to maintaining very low levels of sucrose as well, and indicate the sucrose content for each product.
