Low-fructose fruit spreads from Frusano

Fructose-free jam

First of all, why do we call our sweet spreads "fruit spread" and not jam?
Because of the Jam Ordinance (KonfV for short). It stipulates certain minimum sugar contents for a jam to be called jam. And naturally we cannot (and do not want to!) comply with this.
However, nobody makes this subtle distinction - so we usually write "jam" here for better understanding - but in the case of Frusano we always mean fruit spreads!

Fructose-free fruit spread: the sweet, fruity spread

Fructose intolerance - this means that you can only consume very little or no fructose every day because your body cannot tolerate it and it causes discomfort. Fructose is naturally found in most foods, not just fruit. This is because fructose, together with glucose , forms the common household sugar sucrose, which is found in particularly high quantities in sweetened foods and drinks - including jam. To ensure that people who have been diagnosed with fructose intolerance have to restrict themselves as little as possible in their everyday lives, an ever-expanding range of fructose-free products has been developed in recent years. Many sufferers assume that once they have been diagnosed, they will have to give up sweet foods for the rest of their lives and change their diet from the ground up. Most people with a fructose intolerance avoid jam in particular, as it is made from fruit, which naturally contains fructose, as well as - in most cases - with the addition of granulated sugar. However, it is a fallacy to necessarily avoid the fruity spread if you are fructose intolerant! A sweet fruit spread that is made without fructose - how can this be achieved? We from Frusano will enlighten you!

Live without sacrifice with fructose-free fruit spreads

On the one hand, the fruit spread (but also the jam) can be made from fruit varieties that naturally contain relatively little fructose - such as redcurrants or the tropical fruit calamansi - and on the other hand, fructose-free glucose syrup can be used instead of sucrose for sweetening. This gives the fructose-free jam a natural, not too overpowering and healthy sweetness; at the same time, it does not tend to crystallise. Glucose can also be immediately converted into energy by the human body. In the form of fructose-free jam on your breakfast roll, you also get a little power kick in the morning. What could be nicer than starting the day on a sunny, warm Sunday with a cup of coffee and a delicious jam roll on the terrace? The "sweet breakfast lovers" among you in particular can relate to this - for many people, a fruit spread is simply part of a good breakfast. This is why the demand for fructose-free jam has been extremely high ever since, thanks to which this fruity treat can once again be made available to people with fructose intolerance. And that's not all: fructose-free jam is also ideal for sweetening dishes without the addition of normal sugar and for preparing desserts - for example as a sweet, fruity topping in natural yoghurt or similar.

Fructose-free jam from Frusano

It all started with fruit spreads in 2006: The first products were created in the home kitchen from low-fructose fruit varieties such as blackcurrant and dextrose, in Weck jars, because the demand for fructose-free fruit spread had been there for a long time.
The jars are still from Weck, only the shape has changed. The variety of flavours has increased and the dextrose has been replaced by fructose-free glucose syrup: This also contains a lot of glucose and tastes better due to its maltose content, the sweetness is "rounder" and does not tend to crystallise. And of course, our glucose syrup (although not everyone, see glucose syrup) is just as well tolerated as pure dextrose.

The raspberry, blackcurrant and strawberry-rhubarb flavours are particularly popular. No fruit spread can be made completely free from fructose, but we always make sure that all our products contain as little fructose as possible. Everyone who suffers from fructose intolerance must find out for themselves how many grams of fructose their body can tolerate per day. They can then choose the daily amount of fructose-free jam and the variety that suits them best. Because at Frusano there is a large selection to find the perfect flavour for you. Bitter orange , for example, is our fruit spread that brings the tart flavour of the organic Seville orange to the table. Another unusual flavour is tayberry, which tastes like a mixture of blackberry and raspberry. Like all of our fructose-free jams, including strawberry, rhubarb and papaya, it also contains no pesky seeds in the end product.

Our fructose-free jam is also vegan and gluten-free! It is therefore not only ideal for people with fructose intolerance, but also for people who want or need to eat a gluten-free diet (e.g. because they suffer from coeliac disease ). Vegans will also get their money's worth with the fructose-free jam from Frusano. In addition to this, you can also find the super tasty vegan, fructose-free Hazelnut Spread.
As you can see, avoiding certain ingredients such as fructose or gluten does not have to mean giving up the majority of foods and flavours. Our range offers you the opportunity to enjoy a fructose-free diet and live without serious restrictions.
